Our tours in a nutshell…

Quaint & Historic

We offer leisurely walkabouts through DC’s favorite, bustling historic districts–Capitol Hill/Barracks Row, Dupont Circle/Georgetown, and Adams Morgan/U Street. Enjoy rich stories, gorgeous old architecture, historic sites, boutiques, fabulous murals and more. Go where the locals go!

• Capitol Hill/Barracks Row

East Capitol St architecture

Beginning at Union Station and “Swampoodle,” this leisurely walk explores the storied streets, whimsical architecture and notable residents of historic Capitol Hill. We also pass by the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress and the quaint, can’t-miss business districts of Eastern Market and Barracks Row.

• Dupont Circle/Georgetown

This easy saunter leads from Dupont Circle and Embassy Row to historic Georgetown, once a thriving, but slave-dependent tobacco port. We’ll admire alluring architecture, bustling M Street, movie locations, some famous celebs who’ve passed this way, the old C&O Canal Towpath and the waterfront, then catch the clean and comfy DC Circulator the last half-mile to the Foggy Bottom Metro.

• Adams Morgan/U Street

This unique walk from the Woodley Park Metro ambles across Duke Ellington Bridge to the quirky architecture of historic Adams Morgan. We’ll see Malcolm X Park and its giant cascading fountain, then lively U Street for compelling history and murals. Quieter streets lead to Logan Circle’s Victorian homes and stunning churches near Thomas Circle, before ending at a Metro station.

Monumental!

Two great loops, East and West, explore the history and beauty of the National Mall, including the memorials and monumental architecture that make Washington, D.C. such an incredible place. Walk at an easy, steady pace with awesome views and brief stops for photos, stories and hidden gems.

• National Mall EAST Loop

Highlights of the National Mall East Loop tour include the U.S. Navy Memorial, Pennsylvania Avenue, National Archives, world-class museums and art galleries, Senate Park and Fountain, the awesome U.S. Capitol, botanical gardens, sculpture gardens, Smithsonian Castle, famous and lesser known memorials, and much more.

• National Mall WEST Loop

Highlights of the National Mall tour include the U.S. Navy Memorial, Pennsylvania Avenue, Smithsonian museums, Washington Monument, WWII Memorial, Constitution Gardens, Lincoln Memorial and Reflecting Pool, the Vietnam and Korean War Veterans Memorials, the Martin Luther King, Jr., FDR and Jefferson Memorials , Smithsonian Castle, several gardens and much more. This tour is rewarding anytime, but also quite stunning in the evening.

Classic Urban Trek

For avid walkers and hikers, we recommend either of two scenic treks–Secrets of Old D.C. and Waterfront Walkabout. These two treks cover the most distance at a moderate pace, on and off the beaten path. We’ll ramble through scenic parks and gardens, historic areas, a bit of downtown, and along the waterfront and quiet city streets, passing dozens of points of interest.

• Secrets of Old D.C.

Just off the Mall, Washington’s Penn Quarter and old downtown are rife with historic sites, classic architecture and both quiet and vibrant streets that are just plain fun to walk. On this trek, we also visit Chinatown, the Victorian enclave of Logan Circle, the brownstones of Dupont Circle and a bit of Embassy Row, each with their own fascinating stories of murder, mayhem and moneyed magnificence.

• Waterfront Walkabout

A scenic walk on D.C.’s waterfront should be on everyone’s to-do list. But with more than 30 miles of paths along the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers, where to begin? We solve that dilemma by stitching together the very best into an exceptional, historic walkabout that includes a slice of the Mall, Tidal Basin, Fish Market, Southwest Waterfront, Titanic Memorial, Fort McNair, Yards Park and the Navy Yard.
